Please take the photo journey with Noodsie from Asia to America (below).
Like many of these poor pups, he may have looked only disheveled and neglected, but on the inside his little body was literally being devoured by cancer and stage4 heartworm.
We hope that his story will inspire you to
be the change
for the countless others like him and you'll
come To The Rescue! today...
After
The incredible journey...
His signature trademark.
But we made sure he got num-nums in his tum-tum!
And no matter the weather, always outside.
Over the rock wall, but so very much needed.
Dinner air-dropped over the wall.
The road to recovery finally begins!
The whole enchilada all at once.
Along with heartworm, whip worm, tape worm...
Poor little guy didn't move for days.
He loves the smell of Tim's socks and Trish's undies (TMI?)
We hated it too. But that's how they roll in Korea.
He loves it so much. Along with cream cheese and Fritos. (In moderation, of course!)
Doctor finally gave the green light to travel!
He didn't love the crate, but he knew it was a necessary evil.
After 20 hours in the cargo hold, he was beat.
And he had to have all his "babies" sleep with him.
It's his baby.
They're ALL his favorite.
Ever seen such huge smile?
When in Rome, right?
From A Galaxy Far, Far Away
Well, from an entirely different universe where many dogs are horrifically abused and all too often served up as the night's main dinner course.
Born on Jeju Island, South Korea in 2016, our spunky hero with eyes barely opened began his adopted life corralled in the yard of a local tangerine farmer. Hardly bigger than a tennis ball, but exponentially fuzzier, one fateful day he gave chase of a passing mountain biker.
That unsuspecting handsome expat was Tim, the husband of an American teacher, Tricia, who was working in the nearby compound of collegiate prep schools known as Global Education City.
Tim dutifully returned his furry follower immediately to the Korean owner's care, explaining in rudimentary hand motions and gestures that the puppy had escaped. Here he learned the dog's name was Pan.
The very next day on his usual route, Tim checked in on little Pan. Much to his horror, Pan was tethered
to a tree behind a rock wall on a 5 foot chain weighing more than the tiny dog. And that's where poor
Pan remained imprisoned for the next four years.
Neglected to the point of near death, the only thing saving Pan from starvation and devastating loneliness was the kindness, care, and affection of these dog-loving foreigners, Tim and his buoyant sidekick, Trish.
After finding the sweet Jindo boy on a regular basis without food or even water --
and left to be always braving the elements in all kinds of harrowing conditions including typhoons, blistering heat, and frigid cold & snow -- they began bringing Pan home-cooked meals almost daily under the cloak of darkness, providing water, and showering him with as much love and affection as possible by reaching to pet his ragged face over the rock wall.
At this time, they decided that "Pan" was a terrible name for such a cute, gregarious, and affectionate pup. So they brainstormed and finally settled on Bartholomew Noodle Roni, or "Noodsie" for short.
On their frequent scooter outings through the island orchards, they discovered that there were dozens of other Jindo dogs enduring the same horrible conditions as Noodsie. No food, no water, chained & imprisoned with no means of exercise, riddled with disease, and absolutely zero human contact.
Promptly they plotted a nightly scooter route of several miles where they would deliver food, water, and a little love to these neglected souls. Over time, they learned that there was a handful of rescue operations whose sole mission was to relocate these Korean dogs to loving homes overseas.
Tim began corresponding with several organizations and was in the process of laying plans to create a massive "We Are The World" type yearly musical festival benefiting the abused dogs. He even wrote the song dedicated to Noodsie that was to be professionally recorded and sung with renowned musicians and vocalists, including a national Korean choir.
Here the song demo is featured in the video "A Little Love".
Before the festival was able to come to fruition, however, Tim's mom died tragically in a car accident, and with other family health concerns, he & Trish decided to return to the states to be with loved ones.
Prior to leaving Jeju, though, they approached Noodsie's neglectful keeper with a bold proposition --
to adopt Noodsie and take him to the United States.
Amazingly, he agreed!
They immediately took Noodsie to the vet, where they learned the horrific news: not only was he infested with ticks, mites, and mange, but he had received absolutely zero vaccinations his entire life!
But it only got worse from there. MUCH worse. This poor pup's frail body was riddled with tape worm, whip worm, Stage 4 heart worm, and testicular cancer.
The doctor shook his head in anguish and said "I'm sorry. We can make the arrangements to put him down."
Tim & Trish were absolutely devastated. Trish sobbed and ran a gentle hand over Noodsie's patchy diseased head. Pacing the exam room in mad defiance, Tim uttered a quiet but resolute "No."
Trish looked at him, Was he serious? Through her puddled eyes she could see he was.
"No!" she barked in echo, as hopeful triumph welled in her spirit.
Without a word between them, they instantly unified and directed the doctor to "do everything in his power" to get little Noodsie back to tip-top health. The bewildered vet balked, sternly cautioning against the exorbitant costs of such a monumental undertaking, especially since the odds of Noodsie's recovery were so incredibly abysmal.
But it didn't matter to these two eternally hopeless dog-lovers, "We know he'll get better!" they proclaimed. For they had the power of faith and prayer on their side, and never for a moment did they doubt that this wonderful little guy was meant to have them as his new nurturing and loving forever-family.
Several months and several thousand dollars later -- including special ordering a proprietary heart worm medication from France -- little Noodsie found himself on a 20 hour ride in the belly of an Airbus and on his way to lifelong freedom. Once settled in Central Oregon, for the first time Noodsie was happy and looked as if he were always grinning from ear to ear. His new-found love was running wild with his new doggy best friends at the Crooked River Ranch dog park and dining on the finest epicurean delights -- his favorites being rotisserie chicken, beef heart, and shrimp tails. They also discovered that Noodsie has quite a palate for Asian cuisine, including nori seaweed paper and kung pao chicken.
Suffice it to say, his absolute mostest favoritest treat in America...fortune cookies! Really.
Now, as his super-powered alter ego -- Noodsie The Wonder Dog -- the formerly mild-mannered Bartholomew Noodle Roni's sole mission is to help rescue the other neglected comrades here in the states and also the countrypups remaining in his homeland.
Erstwhile, the other endeavor on his superhero agenda is to visit hospitals, schools, senior homes, private businesses, etc. and provide personal comfort and therapy for any human who might be in need.
The ultimate goal is to one day purchase a modest but bold NoodsieMobile to be used to transport Noodsie to and from such philanthropic engagements.
As always, your generous financial support means the world to Noodsie and all of the forgotten and forsaken doggies so deserving of not only a chance at living a new life filled with shelter, safety, delicious treats, long walks, and health & happiness, but most importantly...
A little love.
